Navigating Your Health Journey
Chronic wounds can be challenging; not just physically, but emotionally and mentally too. At times, it may feel like you’re expected to know what to do on your own. But the truth is, wound care involves many factors and it’s completely normal to feel unsure or to have questions.
This resource page was created to offer education and information about chronic wounds; what they are, what may contribute to them, and how people commonly manage care in partnership with healthcare professionals. We don’t provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Instead, our goal is to help you build a better understanding of the basics so you can feel more informed and prepared when speaking with your care team.
What is a healing vs non-healing wound?
A chronic wound is defined by Medicare as older than 30 days. Some of these wounds are not healing despite normal wound care. These are called “Chronic, non-healing wounds”. These types of wounds can be difficult to heal. There are many reasons your wound will not heal, and clinicians know what treatment modalities are needed to help your wound heal. Please contact a wound care provider for medical advice and to see if our products can aid in your treatment.
